Welcome to The Red & White Wizards — an unofficial fan site for Sheffield United FC, run independently by Mark Hawksworth, a Bladesman since 1968. The site has no connection with Sheffield United Football Club, the EFL, or any official body.
The site ran as an active blog from 1999 to December 2013, with over 11 years of personal match reports, player ratings and Blades news. It was featured in Match of the Day magazine and received over 100,000 visitors in its early years. All match reports are written personally by Mark.
January 2002
United and Wednesday served up a frenzied Steel City derby, with The Blades enjoying the better chances throughout. A crowd of 29,364 saw a tightly contested match, with Wednesday keeper Paul Heald the busier of the two goalkeepers.
Asaba went close on several occasions and D'Jaffo's scissor-kick crashed into the side-netting. With the last chance of the game Tracey brilliantly blocked Ekoku's point-blank effort to ensure honours ended even. A point each but the Blades felt they deserved more.
