United and Wednesday served up a frenzied Steel City derby, with The Blades enjoying the better chances throughout. A crowd of 29,364 saw a tightly contested match, with Wednesday keeper Paul Heald the busier of the two goalkeepers.

Asaba went close on several occasions and D'Jaffo's scissor-kick crashed into the side-netting. With the last chance of the game Tracey brilliantly blocked Ekoku's point-blank effort to ensure honours ended even. A point each but the Blades felt they deserved more.
