Sheffield United have announced the appointment of Danny Wilson as their new manager. The Blades have been searching for somebody to take the helm since sacking Micky Adams earlier this month following relegation to League One. Wilson, who left his last role at Swindon in March after a season of struggle, now becomes Sheffield United's fourth permanent manager in nine months. The move has angered some Unitedites as Wilson used to play and manage across the city while also managing at Barnsley. "I feel privileged to become the manager of Sheffield United. The fans, the owner and everyone involved with the club have one thing in common for the Blades - ambition." Wilson will name his assistant in the next few days but will work closely with Academy boss John Pemberton while club captain Chris Morgan will be a player-coach

John Pemberton saluted the Bramall Lane crowd who saw his young Blades draw 2-2 with Manchester United in the FA Youth Cup final first leg.

United academy manager Pemberton said his players will never forget playing in front of a crowd of nearly 30,000 as they twice came from behind thanks to super strikes from Callum McFadzean and Jordan Slew.

"I'd really like to thank the fans for some fantastic support, which the team will remember for the rest of their lives," Pemberton said.

"It was very open and very entertaining, particularly in the second period because in the first 20 minutes or so we weren't ourselves, we looked nervous and it was probably our worst spell of the season.

"We were edgy, didn't get close to people, gave the ball away and were probably a bit fortunate to go in level. We are better than that and to equalise just before half-time was a massive boost to us.

"In the second we passed the ball better, got closer and although we went behind once more we responded again as we have all season - they have fantastic spirit.
