Notts County came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw at Sheffield United with Lee Hughes cancelling out Dave Kitson's opener.

The Blades put County under pressure early on with keeper Bartosz Bialkowski called into action on several occasions. Bialkowski comfortably saved Michael Doyle's shot and did well to keep out Ryan Flynn and Paul Gallagher. After Blackman fired against a post, Kitson who was in outstanding form for United, scored with a firm header from Flynn's cross in the 51st minute. Blades keeper Mark Howard made a fine save to keep out Francois Zoko's header before the visitors equalised in the 76th minute. The ball came back off the crossbar following a goalmouth scramble, Jeff Hughes played the ball back across the face of goal and namesake Lee tapped in at the far post.

Sheffield United returned to winning ways in npower League One with a narrow 1-0 victory at beleaguered Yeovil. A bullet header from captain Neill Collins fired the unbeaten Blades to their first win in four matches - condemning the Glovers to a fourth consecutive league defeat.

In a first half that lacked fluency, both sides created opportunities but lacked a cutting edge in front of goal. Yeovil goalkeeper Marek Stech pushed an early free-kick from Tony McMahon over the bar, before Collins and Paul Gallagher were both denied.

Young midfielder Korey Smith, who completed a three-month loan move to the Glovers from Norwich last week, came closest for the hosts just before the break when his low drive was smartly saved by Mark Howard.

The breakthrough came 10 minutes after half-time when Collins rose highest to head home Gallagher's inswinging corner in front of the jubilant travelling supporters.

The Blades, who drew their previous three matches before arriving at Huish Park, came under little threat as the second half progressed and took home a valuable three points

Sheffield United's South Yorkshire derby at home to Doncaster ended 0-0 as chances

were few and far between. Doncaster threatened inside the opening couple of minutes as Martin Woods saw his low angled shot parried by Mark Howard while the United 'keeper also kept out Chris Brown's follow-up. Blades striker Richard Cresswell fired over from inside the area before Paul Gallagher tested Gary Woods with a 25-yard effort which the visiting keeper turned over the bar, with Harry Maguire seeing a header blocked following a corner. United's Nick Blackman sent a free-kick off target in the second half while, at the opposite end, Howard made a comfortable save after Jamie McCombe had met Martin Woods' cross with a downward header. Blades boss Danny Wilson sent on recent recruit Dave Kitson for his debut in a bid to spark some life into the home side's attack but the Blades striker was unable to make an impression.

A miss from Mark Cullen prevented Bury from snatching a shock win at Sheffield United as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

With Nick Blackman and Peter Sweeney exchanging strikes before the break, Peter Shirtliff's side seemed destined to secure their first victory of the new League One season when Cullen met Craig Jones' 90th-minute cross.

But, with the net at his mercy, the Bury marksman inexplicably headed over the crossbar.

Blackman, United's most dangerous player, converted debutant Paul Gallagher's pass with a well-executed volley before Sweeney dragged Bury level with a 25-yard free-kick.

Defender Harry Maguire came closest to edging United back in front with a powerful header.

Bury also had a late penalty appeal turned down when Cullen was tackled by Tony McMahon.

Nine-man Sheffield United staged a remarkable recovery to draw 1-1 at struggling Scunthorpe on Saturday. Centre-back Neill Collins headed the Blades level after 83 minutes from a Tony McMahon free-kick.

Danny Wilson's side seemed to be dead and buried after having a man sent off in each half. Skipper Michael Doyle was first to be sent off after just 15 minutes for his challenge on home striker Mike Grella, and he was followed by midfielder Ryan Flynn in the 72nd minute for his high challenge on Iron full-back Christian Ribeiro.

By then Scunthorpe looked to be heading for their first win of the season after a dream debut for striker Leon Clarke, who is on loan from Charlton. Clarke came off the bench in the 55th minute as part of a double substitution which saw fellow new signing Karl Hawley handed his debut.

And five minutes later Clarke was on the end of a ball into the box from Mark Duffy to plant his header into the bottom corner past goalkeeper Mark Howard. It was only Scunthorpe's second league goal of the season.

Ryan Flynn scored twice as Sheffield United came from behind to beat Bournemouth 5-3 to maintain their unbeaten start in League One.

After the unmarked Tommy Elphick had headed home from Eunan O'Kane's cross to give Bournemouth a 20th-minute lead, Flynn equalised four minutes later with a close-range finish after Nick Blackman's cross was headed down.

Flynn put United in front in the 31st minute with a low, curling shot from 12 yards out which went inside Shwan Jalal's left-hand post.

John Cofie made it 3-1 with a superb effort on the run from outside the area two minutes before half-time. The on-loan Manchester United striker went close to repeating the feat shortly afterwards when his long-range effort struck the crossbar.

Lee Barnard met O'Kane's corner with a firm, close-range header to give Bournemouth hope three minutes into the second half before substitute Richard Cresswell headed home Flynn's cross to restore the Blades' two-goal cushion on the hour mark.

However, Bournemouth would not go away and Marc Pugh drilled a low shot past Mark Howard from 25 yards in the 87th minute to put the visitors within touching distance one more, but Blackman scored from the penalty spot to seal the win in stoppage time after being brought down by Josh McQuoid.
